Women’s Basketball Glides by Dundee

St Andrews Women's Basketball First Team devastates Dundee by 58 points.

On the evening of Wednesday 6 November, the St Andrews Women’s Basketball First Team played the University of Dundee Women’s Basketball First Team at home.

The Saints came out strong and aggressive and were not afraid of physicality. The Saints pushed so hard that they forced two timeouts within the first quarter, one with 5:26 left and another with 14.1 seconds left in the first quarter.

They easily hit their foul shots and were playing with versatility in their pocket, not afraid to go for the 3-pointer or drive to the net.

At the end of the first quarter, St Andrews held a very comfortable 22-point lead with a score of 29-7.

Going into the second quarter, Dundee took the first basket, but this was no match for the Saints. They responded with multiple 3-pointers, successful foul shots, and drives.

They ended the first half with a score of 57-15, allowing Dundee only 8 points in the second quarter.

The drive and aggression did not die out going into the second half. Far from it, the Saints naturally took the first basket.

Dundee seemed to get a sense of their looming defeat and upped their game, scoring 9 points in the first half of the third quarter, more than they scored in the entire second quarter.

The Saints were not phased though and did not allow Dundee to score again in the quarter. They pushed aggressively on defense to come out of the third quarter on top with a score of 70-24.

The Saints laid everything out on the court and maintained their high level of play until the buzzer. The Saints ended the game with an impressive final score of 92-34. Go Saints!
