The University of St Andrews Women’s Football Team (@ustafootball) has achieved an amazing victory, securing the 2025 Women’s Football National Championship on BUCS Big Wednesday. A hard-fought 2-1 win over Nottingham University at Loughborough Stadium made club history.
The match remained level throughout the first half, but things quickly got more exciting in the second 45 minutes. Just 20 seconds into the second half, Olivia Boscaccy broke the deadlock with a stunning left-footed finish into the right-hand corner. Shortly after, she then doubled the Saints’ lead in the 59th minute, sealing what would be a decisive lead. Despite a late goal from Nottingham in the 89th minute, St Andrews held firm and claimed the national title.

This victory and championship marks an incredible achievement for the Saints, who conceded just one goal throughout their entire cup campaign. It is a remarkable feat that speaks to not only their defensive strength and teamwork but also their dedication to win. Their determination and resilience made them formidable opponents their entire season.
BUCS Big Wednesday is the pinnacle of university sport in the UK. Thousands of university teams compete in the BUCS leagues every year, but only the very best reach the finals. The Championship final for women’s football was a showcase of the top student Premier League teams in the sport battling for the ultimate title, and St Andrews secured the trophy.
This victory is a tribute to the entire St Andrews Women’s Football squad's dedication, skill, and teamwork. Congratulations to the Saints—National Champions of 2025!
