House of Horror Launch Party 2019: Reviewed

Before the fourth annual House of Horror Halloween Event, the House of Horror (HOH) Charity Gala hosted a small launch party nestled in the booths of North St Brewco. In the spirit of Halloween, the HOH Charity Gala committee transformed NewCo , a typical sports pub, into a Brothers Grimm inspired forest by trading sports games for Snow White on televisions throughout the pub, whilst also decorating the tables with spider webs, faux-bloody limbs and free candy.

Other than the decor and dressed up committee members, nothing really set the mood for Halloween as the students both looked and treated the event as just another night out at a pub. The committee did hire a DJ yet there was nothing exceptional regarding the music or overall vibe of the evening. However, with a good group of friends to chat with and complimentary sweets, the night was still quite enjoyable.

Despite the fact that the Brothers Grimm theme was lost beyond the basic Halloween decorations, I am looking forward to the actual House of Horror Charity Gala on the night of the 31st. If last years’ event was any indication of what is to come, Kinkell Byre will be overflowing with dancing, music, sweets, drinks and plenty of spooky vibes. If you have not already made plans, you might as well grab a group of friends, a costume and a ticket for the biggest Halloween event in St Andrews!
